It's not like IGF has much to choose from right now. I don't think Fujita is that bad of an opponent for a 40 year old Cro Cop.

If they could get Kharitonov, Grabowski, or Gluhov those would be better.  Not sure if those fighters need M-1 permission or if M-1 would allow it.  Hasegawa would be a good option (DEEP vs. IGF HW champ).  Malikov, Shamil, Mike Russow, Rolles Gracie, Raz, Kudin, Maro Perak, Sylvia, Chris Barnett, Sean McCorkle, or Thiago Santos are some other options.

I don't think M1 would risk any of those guys so soon after their China show. If it were earlier in the month like originally planned, it could have been more likely.

Hasegawa is unfortunately in Titan FC, now. So that's off the table. Barnett is being built for a future title shot and the rest of those guys either wouldn't commit to IGF for the immediate future or offer little to no more name value than Fujita, who's been an IGF guy for years now.

Just some options IGF could pursue for Cro Cop. Fighters have taken fights close together to fight on NYE.

I mean, yeah, I'd like to see Razmadze back in Japan and Kudin, Malikov, Santos, and Sylvia would all make for great stylistic fights but IGF hasn't really been clear with their intentions on their brand of MMA.

Yeah, I've been hoping IGF would step it up soon.

I'm surprised Inoki didn't talk him into challenging Cro Cop for the belt.

Satoshi Ishii has announced through Twitter that he will be facing Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic on the IGF New Years Eve event.

Ishii has to pull out of a previously announced bout that was to take place on today’s M-1 Global 53 in Beijing, as he had sustained a broken rib in training.

Ishii, however, will apparently be recovered in time to continue with his rematch with Cro Cop on Inoki Genome Federation’s year-end event on December 31st

There was story in Croatia that Ishii ducked Kharitonov because he has to revenge CC to go in UFC while he can only lose in Kharitonov fight because if he beats Kharitonov he still has to beat CC. So if he lost to Kharitonov and beat CC he would not get call from UFC but if he only beats CC he will get call...

^ That's completely true.

Ishii has let it known that his intentions were to fight in the UFC. He would've been there from the beginning if they wouldn't have lowballed him.

Glad to see the CC/Ishii fight is on. It's a good rematch. Hope CC takes this one again. Cool having him as IGF champ.

Interested to see what that leaves Esenbaev, though.

A good choice would be Daisuke Nakamura.

Insane IGF possibilities include a catchweight fight with Hikaru Sato or an openweight fight with Daichi Hashimoto.

^I know, the Esenbaev fight makes most sense for Aoki. I don't like this fight either. Hopefully it's not true.

Aoki should take him out quick I would think. Not sure why they wouldn't have him fight their best LW who is suppose to be on the same card.

Because they will not have any matchups if they put strong fights. They have small roster and have to waterdown if they want to have more events. I see that fight on next event. Next event will probably not have so strong main event so...

That's IGF's fault. You should always build to the best fights on NYE. That's how it's always been done, if health allows it.

They're simply not taking MMA seriously enough yet by keeping the same six fighters around and making very little free agent signings.

Yeah, the best fights should be on NYE. Aoki/Esenbaev is the fight to make IMO.
