Global-MMA Ranking Rules

*This ranking system includes fighters that are not under exclusive contract to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

*Top level fighters that leave the UFC may be ranked in subsequent rankings.

*Fighters that sign exclusively to the UFC will be removed from the rankings.

*Rankings are based on a fighter's overall career results and recent performance.

*A fighter will be ranked number one if he defeats the number one ranked fighter in the weight division except under certain rare circumstances where the number two ranked fighter clearly deserves to move into the number one ranking position.

*Victories over highly ranked fighters and losses against non-ranked opponents have a larger effect on the fighters ranking position.

*A fighter will not necessarily take the place of his opponent in the rankings after a victory or a loss.

* A fighter can move up a maximum of three spots with impressive victories over a fighter ranked below him; however, there is no limit if the fighter earned a title or a tournament championship with the victory.

* An unranked newly crowned champion who earned a title in a major league MMA promotion can enter the top ten even with a victory over an unranked fighter.

*A fighter will drop in the rankings if he does not fight regularly against high level competition.

*A top ten ranked fighter can become ranked in another weight division after one or more wins in his new weight class.

*A fighter can be ranked in two different weight divisions.

*Champions and fighters from prominent promotions will have an advantage over champions and fighters from promotions with lesser competition.

*A fighter will be removed from the rankings if he does not fight for two years.

*Fighters that are signed to multiple promotions will have their promotions listed based on the following criteria: 1) championship held in a promotion, 2) predominant promotion the fighter fights in, 3) promotion
last fought in.

*Rankings will be updated every month.

wekka, I removed the FLWs for now until you can update them. They were a bit outdated so I had to take them out.

CDF47 you've got to stop giving these WSOF guys such high rankings when their competition is not on par.

Mainly it's the champs that are highly ranked from WSOF. They have some solid fighters and champs, especially at WW and some of other fighters like Gaethje, Palhares, Okami, Moraes,... I think overall Bellator has the better competition but have to give some credit to the champs and top contenders everywhere outside UFC.

McGeary could move to the top with his title fight coming up. The Shlemenko/Okami decision was tough. I had Shlemenko above him at first but since he lost to a contender outside the top 10 I felt I had to drop below Okami to be fair. Held/Gaethje is a tough one. Would love to see them fight to determine that spot. I think that one could go either way. Gaethje has looked unreal on the feet and all around and Held is a sub machine. Straus could move up in his next fight and overtake Glenn's spot depending on his performance if he wins.

I don't even remember who Okami's beaten in WSOF. Shlemenko consistently beat G-MMA top 10 MWs for over a year and then goes under some UFC limbo fighter after a 2 fight skid, one fight at LHW. Yeah Shlemenko's having a hard time against grapplers lately but I still believe he beats Okami at MW.

And Held would totally beat Gaethje right now. Gaethje's potential is being wasted in WSOF. Gaethje was the better prospect for a while but Held has surpassed him by now IMO.

Straus and McGeary opinions on here will be reflected in the rankings after their next fights.  Thanks for the comments.  I hope you guys notice that your comments do affect the rankings.  I go back to these comments after fights occur and check to see what everyone had to say.  I bring in new fighters suggested, move guys up and down,..., based on these comments.  I just like to wait for the fights to occur to make the changes to keep the system legit or else it is just random placement.

I will move guys down for inactivity right away though.  So if you see someone has not fought in a year that you think should fall immediately let me know and I will start dropping them up to four spots a month.  After two years they are gone.

This one was a real tough call. I figured with the two straight losses against an unranked Tito and then low ranked fighter he had to take a hit below Okami. A lot of people are saying Okami should be higher as well but he got passed up as fighters below him have been winning.

This is a fight I would love to see. I don't know which way it would go. I would probably pick Gaethje in the fight but would be a tough call. I agree, I wish he was in Bellator. If Held wins his next fight, he will pass up Gaethje.
