Yeah, it's a big issue.

The WBC in boxing has fighters weigh in several times leading up to fights.

It is of course a corrupt organization, but it is a good idea.

It's probably partly to protect them from having fighters miss weight, but it is also a potential idea for how to have fighters manage weight cuts correctly.

I agree with you mma needs to do something about weight cutting t{the kid was only 21 had his whole life ahead of him} even adding in more divisions make it 10 pounds per division instead of 20 pounds . Eg 200-190-180-170 and so on .

So they don't have to cut absurd amounts or better yet they should be like fedor or saku and not care about weight .

I don't think we need more weight classes cause the last thing we need is 50 weight classes. I think these guys and girls need to stop bleeding themselves. These days, guys are trying to cut too much weight. There's isn't anything wrong with cutting a few pounds but some try to cut 30-50 pounds. Whenever you need to go to the hospital to rehydrate or get an IV then that's too much. You had Anthony Johnson trying to cut 60 pounds when he was at Welterweight. Johny Hendricks was 210-220 and he's trying to cut to 170. Renan Barao ballooning up to 180 when he fights at 135. I think Conor McGregor walks at 170 and he fights at 145. Then there was Kenny Florian trying to make 145 all the while looking like a skeleton. When Sam Oropeza fought in Bellator, he was trying to make 170 and either couldn't or would have to go to the hospital to rehydrate. These cases are inexcusable.

Well we can agree something has to be done this like what the 5th or 6th i don't person who has died from a bad weight cut .

i'am sticking to my guns when i said there should be a limit on how much weight a person cuts yes it would vary

if i was going to add one more division i would add 195 i mean 20 pounds between that and 205 and 185 there are guys out there way to small for lhw but they struggle to make 185 .

Yeah, weight cutting is a problem that needs to be addressed in a serious manner.

And yes, this is a sad situation.

There have been a number of college wrestlers who died cutting weight.

D1 college wrestling has moved to 1-hour weigh ins.

I have one friend in D1 college wrestling right now.. he doesn't cut weight.
Weigh ins right before the fight is the right way to go. No one wants to dehydrate themselves and not have time to put on weight/water to have the weight advantage.

Agreed. I think this solves it.
