Global-MMA Ranking Rules

*This ranking system includes fighters that are not under exclusive contract to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

*Top level fighters that leave the UFC may be ranked in subsequent rankings.

*Fighters that sign exclusively to the UFC will be removed from the rankings.

*Rankings are based on a fighter's overall career results and recent performance.

*A fighter will be ranked number one if he defeats the number one ranked fighter in the weight division except under certain rare circumstances where the number two ranked fighter clearly deserves to move into the number one ranking position.

*Victories over highly ranked fighters and losses against non-ranked opponents have a larger effect on the fighters ranking position.

*A fighter will not necessarily take the place of his opponent in the rankings after a victory or a loss.

* A fighter can move up a maximum of three spots with impressive victories over a fighter ranked below him; however, there is no limit if the fighter earned a title or a tournament championship with the victory.

* An unranked newly crowned champion who earned a title in a major league MMA promotion can enter the top ten even with a victory over an unranked fighter.

*A fighter will drop in the rankings if he does not fight regularly against high level competition.

*A top ten ranked fighter can become ranked in another weight division after one or more wins in his new weight class.

*A fighter can be ranked in two different weight divisions.

*Champions and fighters from prominent promotions will have an advantage over champions and fighters from promotions with lesser competition.

*A fighter will be removed from the rankings if he does not fight for two years.

*Fighters that are signed to multiple promotions will have their promotions listed based on the following criteria: 1) championship held in a promotion, 2) predominant promotion the fighter fights in, 3) promotion last fought in.

*Rankings will be updated every month.

Thanks Johan.

Plus we got KingFedor helping out a lot now with the lighter weight classes and the slick formatting.  He's doing a great job!

^Yeah, it was a rough decision for Fedor but he still won his fight.  He also had a tougher opponent than Ivanov or Minakov did.  Not sure he should have dropped 2 spots for a win over a tougher fighter than either of the other guys fought.

But it's a hard job, appreciate the work you guys do on the rankings.

Fedor could retake the top spot.  I think he needs to start taking on better fighters at HW.  He could get the top spot back with one big win.

Minakov and Blagoy have been on really good runs so I gave them the nod here after their wins last month.  I have been receiving a ton of comments that Fedor should be lower than 1 ranked as well which I can see some of the arguments for.  I think it is great having Fedor at the top and a good win in his next fight could get him right back up there.

Rick Glenn is WAY too high in the featherweight rankings. He needs to come down out of top 10, his last 2 wins inside of 2016 are not over impressive enough opponents to merit his current spot in the rankings.
Jadambaa should be in top 10 next month.

Jadambaa will be in the top 10 with that 44 second finish against Kelly last week.

Not sure if Glenn left WSOF or not. I agree, his last two fights have been against weaker competition. I would think one of the bigger leagues should pick him up soon. If not, I'll start to drop him down the ranks.

Wish we had seen Minakov vs Ivanov in Bellator. Fedor needs to a top 10 HW on here, I'm sick of his opponent choices. He also has gotten extremely wreckless just throwing haymakers vs Fabio & didn't even mix it up with takedowns.

Minakov vs. Ivanov is definitely a great fight to make.

I know, it would be nice to see Fedor take a step up in the opponents now which is why I had Minakov and Ivanov pass him up after their wins last month. Fedor is still the MMA GOAT but currently needs better competition. I hope to see him come in with a better game plan for his next fight as well. That was a close one against Fabio.

It was changed back to a Fedor Win. Fedor was passed up by both Minakov and Blagoy after there wins last month though.

Yeah I read that, so I am going back to my original position. Fedor's next fight should be against Bedorf, or if that can't happen (KSW being strict about their champs) Kharitonov, or if that can't happen (Fedor not wanting to fight a friend and countryman)Rosholt.

Good options. Blagoy and Minakov and possibly Big Foot would be good as well.

Haven't heard anything about him in months. I'm sure a number of orgs. are trying to pick him up. He'd be a solid addition for any of them.

Ah, so no Fedor fight.  Well there are other good options for him if he remains with the global orgs. outside UFC.

Jared rosholt hw joins Wsof

Ashley gooch Ces MMA hw champ also joins Wsof -possible contender

Tim Elliot joins the tuf to enter the UFC so this might be his last ranked month

Time for Erokhin to move up after beating Richard odoms and Emanuel Newton back to back

Nice signing with Rosholt.  I have him next in line to join HW rankings if someone falls off or if he gets a solid win.

Will be interesting to see how Gooch does in WSOF.  Good to see they are picking up champs from the AXS TV orgs.  They have solid champs in those promotions.

I'm going to watch this upcoming TUF season since they are bringing in champs from orgs. all over the world to compete and the winner fights D. Johnson for the 125 lbs title. I like this concept and glad to see UFC doing something like this.

I'm thinking top 5 for Erokhin next month following those big wins.

Below is the active rankings thread.  I will post this response there as well:
