Fedor's next fight

Post by Kinosis on Tue Jul 12, 2016 9:47 pm

Sounds like Fedor is going to be negotiating soon. He is currently going to a Bellator event with Millen and Millen said there is big news coming soon. I'm sure Fedor is talking to Bellator/EFN/Rizin but with the company he is keeping and the rumors, I think it's almost guaranteed he won't be going to the ufc, especially with dana staying on as President. But who knows what the new owners will offer. I like Fedor having some freedom and being able to jump between Rizin/Bellator and EFN.

^Could be, actually it would be cool for Tito to be the Bellator representative in Rizin this time, in the OWGP. But Tito never wants to go to HW, even though he is bigger than Fedor. He has said before that he would fight Fedor, if Fedor came to LHW.

I actually like this fight though. Tito is a name guy around Fedor's age. But last I heard, Tito is wanting to fight 50 year olds like Royce Gracie for his retirement fight.

Good news. Hope he gets a good opponent and trains and plans well this time. Tito would be OK but not a top choice.

^I doubt Tito would take it anyway. He wants to retire on an easy win against a big name. I suppose the Maldonado fight could give him hope that he could beat Fedor though. They are probably just going to watch the Bellator card and do the fan expo thing. Feodr is making over $2 million in EFN, so Bellator will have to pay up or secure some sponsors for Fedor if they want him.

With all of this info though, it doesn't seem like Fedor will be in the OWGP which is kind of sad. Perhaps if he keeps winning, he can challenge the OWGP winner next year or even the HWGP winner, King Mo.

As far as Bellator fighters, I'd like to see him against Sergei Kharitonov most or Minakov (if he can still be considered a Bellator fighter). Outside UFC, Blagoy is the fight I'd like to see most. It would be a fight against a world top HW and someone who beat him in Sambo. Tito I would place somewhere after these and maybe Rampage.

I'd like to see Bigfoot go to Bellator or RIZIN and fight Fedor as well but not sure what his plans are.

^Bigfoot Silva is the most likely guy to leave the ufc at this point and sign with Bellator or EFN. I'd love for that to be Fedor's next fight.

Based on Fedors terrible performance I think he needs one more tune up. He almost lost to Fabio and many say lucky on the judges cards.

He just needs to stop fighting like an idiot basically

Really hoping for that. I'd like to see that fight in any org., EFN, Bellator, or RIZIN.

Agreed. Tito is tough, he just has different skills than Maldonado. If Tito could get Fedor down (especially if Fedor is just trying to swing for the fences like against Bigfoot) he could land some elbow and get the fight stopped. Fedor hasn't had to deal with elbows before and Tito is good at them. A smart Fedor should be able to put Tito away in the first round. The problem is, you never know what he is going to do anymore.

His original gameplan was to have 2 warm up fights but I agree. He needs another one. Better to slip up against a guy like Fabio than someone in the top 10 who would have finished Fedor from that mistake. I wouldn't say Tito is a warm up fight per say, but I think he is a good level of guy for Fedor to test himself against next. He is a step up from Fabio (more well rounded but not as good of a puncher), has more name value but isn't light years ahead of Fabio in the danger he presents.

As a huge Fedor fan, fuck me im scared to watch him fight after that last fight. Kharitonov is always ready for a fight, and would destroy the Fedor we saw vs Maldo. I dont know wtf fedor is doing, i've always said the guy trains with whoever. I liked him a lot in the fights where he used leg kicks and looked like a good kickboxer, it looked like he finally gave a shit those times he trained in Holland. Im not sure i wanna even watch him fight good fighters anymore, im scared he will get destroyed. Fuck my life...

needs another one because Jadeep singh didnt even push him...fabio pushed him! so we can say the jadeep fight didnt really count

One thing about brawling Fedor is that you will find out quickly in the fight if that is how he is going to play it. If he comes out swinging wild he has about a 50% chance of losing. If he comes out calm and collected, looking in shape and going for real combos, he will finish it pretty quickly most of the time.

I remember seeing the weigh ins for the Maldonado fight and thought he looked like he lost some of his muscle and he weighed in less than before. Then the next day when he was walking to the cage he looked deflated like Strikeforce Fedor and I said to myself "Crap, he is going to lose this fight". Sure enough, he had me very worried early in the fight when he got clipped. Luckily, he won, but barely. I hope he learns from this and doesn't repeat the same mistake, but he had already had this mistake against Werdum, Bigfoot and Hendo so who knows.

I will say one thing, even though this version of Brawling Fedor was older, he did at least mix up his striking a little bit here and there. He seemed to forget about his ground game he had just used flawlessly in December but at least he did use a few kicks and even a flying knee. I just wish if he was going to keep standing, he would have kept using his kicks as Maldonado couldn't deal with them. Basically Fedor fought him almost as badly and limited as he possibly could, which is sad as Fedor has such a complete skill set.

Re: Fedor's next fight

Since Fedor is in London for the Bellator card I would say it's pretty safe to assume he won't be at the Rizin press conference in 25 hours. So it's looking like his next fight will be in EFN or Bellator. My guess would be he will have another fight in EFN and if he looks impressive, he will fight in Bellator.

I also hope Rizin will bring him back on NYE for at least a freakshow fight. I don't care if he beats up Bob Sapp, NYE in Japan has to have Fedor. Another option for a NYE fight is Wanderlei Silva or Baruto, if either of those guys lose and are eliminated from the tournament in the first round in Sept. A rubbermatch with TK or a fight against James Thompson or Huggybear would be cool too. There are really a lot of fights they could make for him.

Yeah, at least hope to see Fedor on NYE in Japan. Good point. Wouldn't mind seeing him fight for Bellator in his next fight against a solid HW.

Re: Fedor's next fight

Post by Kinosis on Mon Jul 18, 2016 1:31 pm

Here is what I think will happen.  Fedor is going to fight in Bellator or EFN next for a big payday.  He will be the other fighter getting a bye in the Rizin tournament.  Then he will be in the final 8 of the OWGP.

It makes sense as we know someone else is getting a bye (so it would have to be a big name and for a good reason).  We know the MMA Union of Russia is sending someone.  We know Fedor is negotiating right now and both Bellator and EFN are interested.  He can collect a big check from EFN or Bellator in Sept/Oct and then jump into the final 8 of the Rizin GP on Dec 29th and 31st.

The other option is Fedor simply fights on the main event of the NYE show. I think that is going to happen regardless of if it's in the tournament or just for a 1 off. Of course next year, Fedor vs the winner of the GP or Cro Cop II is the fight to make. That fight has to happen in Rizin, it's too big to pass up.

^Not sure I buy the "Fedor's relationship with Rizin is not good" thing.  Fedor was just traveling around with Jerry Millen, Rizin's VP, a few weeks ago.  But regardless, there is the latest info from a source that is correct more than it's wrong.
