Global-MMA Ranking Rules

*This ranking system includes fighters that are not under exclusive contract to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

*Top level fighters that leave the UFC may be ranked in subsequent rankings.

*Fighters that sign exclusively to the UFC will be removed from the rankings.

*Rankings are based on a fighter's overall career results and recent performance.

*A fighter will be ranked number one if he defeats the number one ranked fighter in the weight division except under certain rare circumstances where the number two ranked fighter clearly deserves to move into the number one ranking position.

*Victories over highly ranked fighters and losses against non-ranked opponents have a larger effect on the fighters ranking position.

*A fighter will not necessarily take the place of his opponent in the rankings after a victory or a loss.

* A fighter can move up a maximum of three spots with impressive victories over a fighter ranked below him; however, there is no limit if the fighter earned a title or a tournament championship with the victory.

* An unranked newly crowned champion who earned a title in a major league MMA promotion can enter the top ten even with a victory over an unranked fighter.

*A fighter will drop in the rankings if he does not fight regularly against high level competition.

*A top ten ranked fighter can become ranked in another weight division after one or more wins in his new weight class.

*A fighter can be ranked in two different weight divisions.

*Champions and fighters from prominent promotions will have an advantage over champions and fighters from promotions with lesser competition.

*A fighter will be removed from the rankings if he does not fight for two years.

*Fighters that are signed to multiple promotions will have their promotions listed based on the following criteria: 1) championship held in a promotion, 2) predominant promotion the fighter fights in, 3) promotion last fought in.

*Rankings will be updated every month.

Why is MacDonald ranked at 5 when he hasn't fought yet since leaving the UFC? Can't you wait until he wins a fight first? It's as bad as sherdog where guys get ranked because of UFC. Also, I like Fedor but what has he done to earn a top 3 spot since coming back? Rampage hasn't fought in LHW outside the UFC since 2014. McGeary and Ortiz could also be taken down due to inactivity as neither have fought in a year and have no fights booked.

When fighters come over from UFC we rank them. I understand the argument both ways but I think it makes more sense to put them as they are now fighters outside UFC. We had a vote on the Rory spot and number 5 had most votes which makes sense.

Fedor dropped from 1 to 3 and could get passed up more depending on who he fights and how fighters below him fight. We had a vote on Fedor as well in the past on this site.

Page dropped a bit recently but then beat Ishii.

McGeary is supposed to be fighting Phil Davis soon for the belt.

You have a good point on Ortiz. May have to consider dropping him off the rankings soon unless he gets a fight scheduled.

I replaced Held. New fighter is last ranked guy at 155. Thanks for update on Held.

Erokhin and Guillard are coming off big wins so they moved up.

MMA players plays very hard to win the fight. This game is all about foot work and how fast you can move your hands between time. This requires lot of strength in legs and hands. Instead of exercising they require good nutritional food to eat.

^^^Wasn't his debut at a recent UFC-Fight Night? I remember him losing but still putting up a fight.

Yeah, last week he fought to a real close decision loss against Dunham but he did well.

Would be cool to have a Global Org. Ranking System and a Zuffa Org. Ranking System for the Fight Pass Orgs (including or discluding UFC).

Names could be something like Legionnairre Di Zuffa (Fight Legion like the old Roman army) and Global Fight Team or something like that.  Would just need more people to help.   Just a thought for the future potentially.
