Fedor on the MMA hour today

Post by Kinosis on Mon Feb 13, 2017 6:30 pm

Fedor was on the MMA hour today, talked about the number of fights he signed for, why he signed with Bellator and more (starts about 1 hour and 52 minutes in):

Yeah, it sounds like he plans on 3 more fights, if the first two go well and he feels good. Though I do remember him saying before that it's not an exclusive contract which could leave the door open to fights in Rizin or other orgs. But in this interview he also said he wanted to end his career with Bellator so maybe he won't fight anywhere else. At 40 years old it's probably smart to just take things 1 fight at a time.

My guess would also be, that since he is signed for 2 fights (with a possible third) if he wins against Mitrione he will be fighting for the title in his next fight, and then perhaps 1 defense. This goes a long with what Coker has said before about dealing with the title in the summer (I think). I'd love to see the GOAT win saturday, win the title, defend it once and call it a day. A great ending to a great career.

That or Fedor enters a Rizin gp that would also be a great cap off be even more awesome if Fedor won the heavyweight championship and won a grand Prix .

That would be a great way to go out. I'd love to see that happen as well. Like you said, he is 40 years old, so 2 or 3 more fights total makes sense.

That would be cool too but at 40 years old, not sure how well he could hang in a GP like that. I guess Cro Cop did it but those GPs can take there toll very quick and make it difficult in the later rounds.
