Global-MMA Ranking Rules

*This ranking system includes fighters that are not under exclusive contract to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

*Top level fighters that leave the UFC may be ranked in subsequent rankings.

*Fighters that sign exclusively to the UFC will be removed from the rankings.

*Rankings are based on a fighter's overall career results and recent performance.

*A fighter will be ranked number one if he defeats the number one ranked fighter in the weight division except under certain rare circumstances where the number two ranked fighter clearly deserves to move into the number one ranking position.

*Victories over highly ranked fighters and losses against non-ranked opponents have a larger effect on the fighters ranking position.

*A fighter will not necessarily take the place of his opponent in the rankings after a victory or a loss.

* A fighter can move up a maximum of three spots with impressive victories over a fighter ranked below him; however, there is no limit if the fighter earned a title or a tournament championship with the victory.

* An unranked newly crowned champion who earned a title in a major league MMA promotion can enter the top ten even with a victory over an unranked fighter.

*A fighter will drop in the rankings if he does not fight regularly against high level competition.

*A top ten ranked fighter can become ranked in another weight division after one or more wins in his new weight class.

*A fighter can be ranked in two different weight divisions.

*Champions and fighters from prominent promotions will have an advantage over champions and fighters from promotions with lesser competition.

*A fighter will be removed from the rankings if he does not fight for two years.

*Fighters that are signed to multiple promotions will have their promotions listed based on the following criteria: 1) championship held in a promotion, 2) predominant promotion the fighter fights in, 3) promotion
last fought in.

*Rankings will be updated every month.

Thanks Willie.  There may be some revisions to the FLW and Jr. FLW.

Aoki should choose a division soon.  He fought at LW, then FW, and then LW in his last three fights and he is ONE FC LW champ.  Confusing for sure.  If he decided to fight in both permanently and go for both belts and defend both, I guess that would be cool though.

Yeah, I think he should get the slight edge over Rimbon.  Tough call though.

Palhares submitting Pierce in under a minute poops all over anything Carl has done at 170 imo. I realise the win was in the UFC, but it still counts towards his track record as a WW, right?

Definitely counts.  It was a huge win against a real good fighter which is why he is near the top of the WW division.

I don't get some of the criticism of G-MMA rankings surrounding Brazilians. 'Most' all are fighting outside Brazil with the 'most all' the elite fighting in the UFC. Others are fighting all over the world. IMO opinion they are not fighting in Jungle Fight or smaller Brazilian promotions. I could be wrong though.

If the Brazilian fighter ranking critiques are saying that the #70 Brazilian is better than the #1-10 Japanese, or Chechen. or Dagestani, or Russian then that's kinda silly.

This Brazilian situation is a different one than with the Euro/Eastern-Euro/Asian countries. The UFC has focused their recruiting efforts almost exclusively on the USA & Brazil. This has skewed the "best in the world" category way toward those two countries. PRIDE did not do this. Americans a whole did not do as well in PRIDE. Brazilians also had less success in PRIDE than they've had in the UFC.

The UFC has been using a 'non-representative' sampling of fighters from all over the world where MMA is practiced. In market research terms you get bad data coming out when you don't do a 'representative sampling' of an entire targeted population.

Realidea why don't you suggest some fighters to look out for rather than make things up?

Do you not like our BW rankings where the top 3 are Brazilian?

Bantamweight
1.  Bibiano Fernandes (ONE FC Champion)
2.  Marlon Moraes (WSOF)
3.  Eduardo Dantas (Bellator Champion)

I don't get how your comments are supposed to be productive towards getting our rankings correct. So I will ask you specifically what you could share since you aren't taking the initiative to yourself:

Who are the top Brazilian fighters competing right now and what promotions are they in? Can you please write up your top 10(-15) Brazilian fighters for each weight class, since you must know who and where they all are?

What other orgs and fighters do you think should considered then? Do you like the African promotion EFC at all? I think their fighters are underrated and their champs could maybe become ranked.

And nowhere did i say that more brazilians should be there. All i said is the ranking are biased towards Euro fighters and orgs

What other orgs and fighters do you think should considered then? Do you like the African promotion EFC at all? I think their fighters are underrated and their champs could maybe become ranked.
Yes because Only Europe and Africa have mma. Good job good job

I don't get what your deal is Realidea. Trying to get productive feedback out of you is pointless since you bring such a poor attitude. Now I think you are just trolling and I don't want to take you seriously.

Why don't you prove me wrong and try putting in some effort?

I challenge you, Realidea, to make a non-euro rankings list of the top 10-15 fighters in each weight class outside of Zuffa and then share it. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm saying that it would be productive and helpful if you actually cared.

I don't think you will do it though since you seem to like being a sarcastic snarky piece of work/boarder line troll.

Good luck with your list and/or poor posts to come.

The hell are you talking about? I said the rankings are biased towards Euro fighters and orgs. You then come attacking me and telling me to post brazilian fighter. When i never said anything about brazilians SmartASS.

Nor did i say there should be 10-15 non euro guys there. All i said its biased towards them

IMO the rankings aren't biased, and they must not be since you aren't offering solutions as if they were. You've complained about Brazilians in the past so that's why I brought it up, I thought that's what you were getting at again so I'll say excuse me if I jumped to conclusions. Anyways I'm going to move on from trying to talk to you about this since we cannot connect on the subject and the discussion is not constructive. Have a good one.

I don't find them biased either.

Just curious, Realidea, what specifically would you change about the rankings?

This is very simple. If a fighter is ranked too high or too low just give us his name.
