Definitely counts.  It was a huge win against a real good fighter which is why he is near the top of the WW division.

They will settle the score and positioning fighting each other

Very true

I don't get some of the criticism of G-MMA rankings surrounding Brazilians. 'Most' all are fighting outside Brazil with the 'most all' the elite fighting in the UFC. Others are fighting all over the world. IMO opinion they are not fighting in Jungle Fight or smaller Brazilian promotions. I could be wrong though.

If the Brazilian fighter ranking critiques are saying that the #70 Brazilian is better than the #1-10 Japanese, or Chechen. or Dagestani, or Russian then that's kinda silly.

This Brazilian situation is a different one than with the Euro/Eastern-Euro/Asian countries. The UFC has focused their recruiting efforts almost exclusively on the USA & Brazil. This has skewed the "best in the world" category way toward those two countries. PRIDE did not do this. Americans a whole did not do as well in PRIDE. Brazilians also had less success in PRIDE than they've had in the UFC.

The UFC has been using a 'non-representative' sampling of fighters from all over the world where MMA is practiced. In market research terms you get bad data coming out when you don't do a 'representative sampling' of an entire targeted population.

Pretty spot on with this Dag. We had Jungle Fight fighters but they went to Zuffa. Ivan Jorge was about to get added as well not that long ago and he went to Zuffa.

Bantamweight
1.  Bibiano Fernandes (ONE FC Champion)
2.  Marlon Moraes (WSOF)
3.  Eduardo Dantas (Bellator Champion)

I don't get how your comments are supposed to be productive towards getting our rankings correct. So I will ask you specifically what you could share since you aren't taking the initiative to yourself:

Who are the top Brazilian fighters competing right now and what promotions are they in? Can you please write up your top 10(-15) Brazilian fighters for each weight class, since you must know who and where they all are?

Exactly. We keep getting these comments and then they are followed with no suggestions.

There are some really good Euro fighters. Look at their success in UFC and Bellator. I think they are deserving of their spot.

What other orgs and fighters do you think should considered then? Do you like the African promotion EFC at all? I think their fighters are underrated and their champs could maybe become ranked.

Yeah, we could start considering EFC a bit more.

I'd hold off on ranking him. God knows where his career will be after this ridiculousness.

If he were to be ranked, I can't see him any higher than 6th.

So Pitbull beat Georgi, has beaten tougher fighters than him & is ranked below him?! Vegh beat Newton is the Bellator champ and ranked below him & King Mo?! Yet Jay Silva gets an upset win and is instantly top 10? Makes no sense but other than that I agree with most of the rankings.

Newton beat #1 King Mo after the Vegh fight and that´s why he´s ranked higher. I agree Mo should drop down.

Georgi beat top ranked Takaya at the time and moved above Pitbull and then took the WSOF title.  He also beat Mikah Miller and he's on a 9 fight win streak over the past two years.  Pitbull had a loss to Curran one year ago.  They are close to even and if Pitbull takes the Bellator belt in his title fight coming up, he will move above Georgi.

Newton beat top ranked Mo and took the top spot.

King Mo may get passed up soon with the Vegh/Newton fight around the corner.  If Vegh beats Newton they will both be ahead of him.  I still have Mo over Rampage and Rumble is history so he may get passed up by Vegh soon.  If Vegh loses, Mo will stay put.

Silva beat a highly ranked MW and moved ahead of him in the rankings but Materla dropped quite a bit in the loss so they sit at the bottom of the top 10.  Brock Lesnar was number 1 HW in the world with a 3-1 record and the UFC title.  Beating ranked fighters usually gets you ranked.

Thanks for the comments.

I can kinda see about Vegh but I still don't think it's fair at all to put Pitbull below Georgi, he beat and finished him what more proof of him being the better fighter is there!? The Curran loss was close & Curran is #2 no need to lose points for that. Not to mention wins over #7 Nunes, & #1 ranked (!!!) Straus are way more impressive than wins over Takaya & freakin' Micah Miller!

The difference is Takaya was number 1 at the time Georgi beat him.  If Pitbull wins his next fight for the belt he will be on top of the division.

If Gilbert Melendez leaves the UFC, where would you guys rank him.  I'm thinking 2 or 3 at LW.  He and Eddie both defeated number 3 ranked Aoki but Eddie smashed Aoki and Melendez won a decision.  Chandler holds a finishing win over Eddie but Eddie came back and beat him.  Eddie is Bellator champ.

I think best case, number 2 behind Eddie or possibly number 3.
